Have you ever opened your bedroom door upon getting up in the morning only to be greeted by the lingering smell of last nights dinner?
It has repeatedly happened to me, especially on the mornings my husband happens to make his own lunch! And whether I cooked fish the night before or whether my husband burned his food that morning, waking up to smells like this is a highly unappealing way to start my day!
I’m the kind of person who likes to set the tone for the day with little things that bring me a sense of joy, pleasure and relaxation before my babies wake up. A house smelling like garlic, fish or onion isn’t one of them.
In this post, I am going to show you just one of my favorite ways to get a very nice, fresh fragrance going in your home that will take care of that ugly smell real quick! The best part, since it is a stovetop potpourri, just like cooking, that pretty smell will stay lingering in your home for a while even after you have turn off the stove! And omg, it smells so good!

All you need is:
Mint leaves
Rosemary leaves
2 limes
Vanilla extract
Preparation Instructions:
Preparation is minimal, all you need to do is slice the 2 limes up, and place them in a pot along with the mint and rosemary leaves.
Add just enough water to slightly cover the pot’s contents.
Place on stove and turn on low heat.
Upon placing the pot over the heat, add 1 tbs of vanilla extract and let simmer for a couple of hours.
The first time I tried this, I wanted to be impressed out how much it really worked, so once I set in on the stove, I took the babies out for a nice 20 minute walk. It was such a beautiful and fresh, sunny day that morning. When I walked in my house…oh my gosh girl…it smelled so AMAZING!
It only took a couple hours before I turned it off and the beautiful fragrance still lasted hours after that!

Early in the morning to trigger pleasing emotions and set the tone for the day, to help start it out smoothly.
When guests will be coming over. (Walking into a nice smelling home always feels inviting).
When you need something to turn on your cleaning mode. (It sets you up to want a clean house to enhance the freshness of the fragrance)!
In fact, you can even use it that moment when you feel accomplished that you cleaned your house. You can enjoy the clean house even more when a has a nice, fresh scent to go with it!
