On the last day of my teaching job as my due date with my firstborn was approaching, I was filling out the paper work when my boss asked me: “So, do you plan on finding out the gender or do you want it to be a surprise”? To which I confidently replied: “Well we want it to be a surprise for everyone else, so we’re finding out ourselves, but will be keeping it a secret until the baby is born”.
I couldn’t help but laugh when he responded: “You know, out if the many, many, many, MANY people I know that have said the same thing, only like 1% have managed to follow through!”
The other 99% must have had someone as annoying as my husband’s cousin who pestered me about the gender so much (like literally to no end), that in a an overwhelming wave of exasperation I ended blurting out what I was having in a “THERE! You happy now?!” kind of tone. That is how fed up I was!
I am now pregnant for the 3rd time and have, since then, clearly never made the attempt again. This time around I thought I’d make it fun and test some old wives tales to see which ones you can actually count vs the ones that are just…luck! Below are 20+ gender predictions I tried, their results and finally, the official verdict! ☺
(Need time to get back to it later? Save to your favorite pregnancy board!👇☺)
(Age:28. Month of conception: month 8 which is August. -Both even numbers)
2 even #s or 2 odd #s mean Girl (1 odd and 1 even would have meant boy).
4-Ring Over Belly
Side to side
(straight means baby will be same sex as first born)
(20+ weeks and still going strong)😷
Below the belly only
All the way across above it
(I had it with my son but actually have none in this pregnancy)
Limp and dull
Fast and thick growth
Colder than usual
No change at all
Calm and happy
22-My Gut Feeling
So which predictions were accurate?
These are fun, but you want to know if they worked, right?
Well, did you guess te final verdict??
With my first pregnancy, I would watch YouTube videos for DIY gender predictions and never even brought myself to actually carry out any of them, but then this surprise pregnancy happened, and as such I am just coming up with all these ideas to do differently with this one to make it extra special and testing out these predictions was one of them. Let me tell you, if you have never tried this before, it is way more fun than you can ever imagine. Try it, and you will see how thrilling and exciting it can be!
Whatever you do, just refrain from painting the nursery pink or blue until the ultrasound tech confirms your baby’s gender!
Ultimately, have FUN! And congratulations☺
