I have been a huge fan of Selena’s ever since I was old enough to reason! As a Latina blogger, I was not going to let this one go without tellin’ y’all about it!
I recently wrote a post on 5 easy ways you can engage your child in learning opportunities to help them understand their culture and develop a sense of pride for their roots. As a bilingual, Latina Mom with Mexican roots and as a fan of the popular 90s Latin singer, Selena Quintanilla Perez (the Mexican Madonna), I was beyond thrilled to find out of the grand release of “The Life of/La Vida de Selena”!

Selena was the ultimate example of Latino pride, success and humility. The example of life she modeled proved that regardless of your backround, or societal limitations, anything is possible and there is no end to the degree of impact she had not only on her people, but everyone in general.
You can keep that impact alive by exposing your child to this quality piece of content that blends English and Spanish to help your child develop bilingual speech at a young age. This is, in fact, one of the factors I mentioned in my last post in regards to teaching your children about your culture, so that, they too, may acknowledge it! In this process, your children will learn fun facts regarding Selena’s favorites such as pizza and the people she held closest to her heart! I find her highly relateable as a Chicana balancing the Mexican American lifestyle, as woman who defended and fought for the love of her life and as a fast food lover. And I’m sure you and your child may identify in some way as well!
